Workbenches

Three workbenches that can accommodate 12 people have been set up in the Genetics Lab. Each person will have a personal working space, area for sample preparation and short-term storage. Each workstation has the following equipment:

  • Pipette kit (P2, P10, P20, P200 & P1000)
  • Vortex mixer
  • Benchtop centrifuge
  • Qubit 2.0 Fluorometer
  • Fridge (+5°C)
  • Freezer (-20°C)

The Qubit 2.0 equipment is used for DNA and protein quantification assays. Data are logged automatically on these systems and can be downloaded via USB. A standard curve is also displayed after calibration has been completed.
